Rose Ann (Mello) Mattos

August 9, 1925 ~ September 29, 2018 (age 93)

Rose A. Mattos (Mello) 93, of Taunton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 29, 2018. She was the loving wife of the late Joseph Mattos, Jr.
Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Manuel G. and Rose (Silva) Mello.


She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse for several years. Mrs. Mattos was a tremendously fun-loving gal with a profound sense of humor and was a fine athlete. She was a champion bowler, winning two silver and three bronze medals at the Bay State Games. In addition to bowling, she loved animals, golf, archery, and was quite the musician. Also, she loved spending summers at her cottage in Cape Cod.


She is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth Mattos, of Taunton; several nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends. Rose was preceded in death by her twelve siblings. 


Visiting hours, will be on Tuesday, October 2, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton (at Saint Mary’s Square)


Rose’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 8:45 am, from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton (at Saint Mary’s Square) followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am, in Saint Andrew the Apostle Church, 19 Kilmer Avenue, Taunton.


(Additional parking with handicap access is located on the north side of the funeral home)


Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
