TAUNTON - Abilio de Amorim, husband of Maria L. (Felipe) Amorim, died at Morton Hospital on May 20, 2010.
He was 90 years old.
Born in Rebordoes Souto de Ponte do Lima, Portugal, he was the son of the late Joaquim and Ana (de Oliveira) de Amorim.
A self-employed carpenter, Mr. de Amorim was raised and educated in Portugal, and served with the Portuguese Army before moving to the U.S. in 1969.
He was a communicant of St. Anthony Church, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing the accordion.
Besides his wife of Taunton, he leaves two sons, Abilio E. Amorim of Taunton and Jose F. Amorim of Raynham, twelve grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the father of the late Anacleto Amorim and Maria Cidalia Pacheco.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway on Tuesday, May 25th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, May 24th from 5 to 7 p.m.
