Adeline Marques, age 94, passed away following a short illness on February 13, 2022 in Venice, Florida, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Taunton on October 14, 1927. She was a graduate of Caswell Grammar School and Taunton High School. She worked for many years in retail sales, and later as a homemaker caring for her family.
Adeline was a devout Catholic and parishioner at Holy Family Church in East Taunton. She was a long-time member of the Women’s Guild, served as a CCD teacher, and assisted as a Girl Scout leader. She was an avid reader who also loved to draw, sketch, and make puzzles. She was a big fan of the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, and an avid watcher of tennis matches.
Adeline was preceded in death by her husband James Marques, her parents John and Maria Stella (Fonseca) Medeiros of St. Miguel, Portugal, and her brother Joseph Medeiros. She is survived by her loving family: daughter Diane (Marques) Tsapatsaris and husband Dean of Venice, Florida, son James Marques, Jr. of Lakeland, Florida, brother-in-law Mario Marques and wife Ann of Greenbelt, MD, two grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and godchildren.
Adeline’s funeral will be held on Friday, April 22, 2022 at 8:45 am from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square), Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Holy Family Church, Middleboro Ave, East Taunton. Internment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
