It is with great sadness that the family of Agnes Pacheco, 94, of Taunton, share the news of her passing. Agnes passed away peacefully at Morton Hospital on Tuesday, April 29th following complications of pneumonia.
Born in Taunton, MA, Agnes was the daughter of the late Manuel and Deolinda (Machado) Pacheco. She was educated in Taunton and was a devout Catholic and lifetime parishioner of Saint Anthony’s Parish in Taunton where she was a member of the Holy Rosary Sodality.
Agnes was employed at the Mason Box Company in Taunton for more than 50 years. Following her retirement from Mason Box, she joined the staff of Bristol Plymouth Regional High School as a part-time food service aide. Her hobbies included enjoying many traveling adventures with her sister, Mary, and visiting area casinos where she would try her luck at the slot machines with a whopping 5 cent bet.
Her faith and her family were at the center of her life. Agnes and her sister, Mary, lived together in the family homestead since birth. They were a true team in every sense of the word. Where you saw one, the other was not far behind. Over the years, friends and acquaintances of their nephew and niece adopted the moniker of “the aunts” rather than referring to them by their individual names-a term of endearment that Agnes and Mary enjoyed so much.
Agnes is survived by her best friend and devoted sister, Mary Pacheco, of Taunton; nephew, retired State Senator Marc R. Pacheco, and his wife, Barbara of Taunton; niece, Linda M. Silva, and her husband, Jim, of Taunton; great-nieces and nephew, Lauren Lavigne (Evan) of Taunton, Kara Estrela (Nic) of Easton, and Jonathan Silva (Taylor) of Somerset, along with three great-great nieces and nephew, Emery Lavigne, Nora Estrela, and Nolan Silva. She was predeceased by her special brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Emily Pacheco.
The Pacheco family would like to extend sincere appreciation to the staff of Regal Care of Taunton, Morton Hospital, and Compassionate Care Hospice, for the excellent care, compassion and kindness shown to Agnes and to our family.
Relatives and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday, May 6th, 2025, at Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton (at Saint Mary’s Square) for a visitation from 9:00am to 10:00am. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the north side of the funeral home. A funeral mass will follow the visitation at 11am in Saint Anthony’s Church on School Street in Taunton.
Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
The family has requested to please omit flowers. Donations in memory of Agnes can be made to Saint Anthony’s Church or to the charity of one’s choice.
