Albina D. (McCann) Ferrie, age 89 of Leith, North Dakota, formerly of East Taunton, slipped peacefully into eternity on June 29, 2025, at Marian Manor Healthcare in Glen Ullin, North Dakota.
Born in New Bedford on December 18, 1935, Doris was the daughter of Francis and Eva (Dupre) McCann. She was the youngest of siblings Arthur, Jeanne, Blanche, and Irene.
In 1952 a handsome Navy veteran named Bob came into Doris’s life. They were married in February 1953 and settled in East Taunton. To this union were born Paul Douglas and Norma Jean Ferrie.
When her children were both in school, Doris obtained a nursing degree and served as an LPN at Morton Hospital for many years in a job she dearly loved.
Doris was a gregarious lady who hardly met a stranger. She had a winning smile and the gift of making friends wherever she went, including grocery stores and yard sales. She was gifted in many ways and used her talents in painting and various types of crafts.
Most significantly and impact-fully, in her late 30’s, Doris became a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ, trusting Him alone to make her right with God. She was baptized and served as a faithful member of Mullein Hill Baptist Church and later Christ Community Church. She enjoyed participating in Bible studies and other church activities.
Doris was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, and beloved husband, Robert F. Ferrie. Grateful to have shared her life are her children Norma Ferrie of Taunton, Paul Ferrie of North Dakota (wife Miller), grandson Daniel Ferrie of North Dakota, sister-in-law Peggy Ducharme of East Taunton, as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
A graveside service was privately held in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
Arrangements were with the Silva Funeral Home of Taunton.
