Alfred G. Sylvia, Jr., age 87 of Raynham, passed away at his residence on March 25, 2020 with his loving family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of the late Lorna (Ferrie) Sylvia.
Alfred was born in Dighton, the son of the late Alfred and Josephine (Stefanik) Sylvia, Sr. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Before retiring, Mr. Sylvia was employed with Prentice Hall Publishing.
Always the entertainer, Alfred loved music. Throughout his life, he was a member in a number of bands where he sang and played saxophone. He also enjoyed playing tennis, hunting, fishing, and boating.
Alfred is survived by his loving children; Stephen Sylvia and wife Elizabeth of South Dartmouth, Edward Sylvia and wife Michelle of Lakeville and Laurie Sylvia of FL. He was the grandfather of Anthony, Matthew, Joseph, Michael, Kevin and Brian, great-grandfather of Cora, Elizabeth, Charles and Levy. He is also survived by his faithful companion, his dog Rusty. Alfred was also the brother of the late Robert Sylvia and the late Madeline Tavares.
A private graveside service was held in the Pleasant Street Cemetery, Raynham. A memorial Mass will be held at a later date in Saint Ann Church, Raynham.
