Alice P. Fernandes, age 92 , passed away at her home after a brief illness on February 17, 2018 at the age of 92 years. Alice will be forever remembered by her children, Peter Fernandes III of Taunton, MA, Karen Fernandes Bell and her husband, Jim, and Sheila Fernandes Parker and her husband David, of North Port, FL.
Alice was the wife of the late Peter Fernandes II of North Port, FL, daughter of the late Mary Gonsalves of Taunton, MA and Frank Rogers of Malden, MA. She was the stepdaughter of Manuel Gonsalves; sister to the late Julia Lima of Wareham, MA, Belmira DeFaria of Brandon, FL and Horace, Richard and Frank Rogers of Malden, MA.
She shared with her children and grandchildren her love of the outdoors and passed many happy days fishing and camping. She loved reading the paper over coffee in the mornings, playing cards and doing crossword puzzles, and watching baseball. She was a great storyteller often recalling childhood friends and memories.
She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: Tammy Garnett, Ann Marie Smith, Peter Fernandes, IV, Shannon and Michelle Bell, Kelly Bell Fletcher, LaShonn, Brandon and Perrin Parker. Alice especially loved her visits with her 16 great-grandchildren in Florida and in MA during her visits home at Christmas.
She will also be remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews and extended family and dear friends.
Mrs. Fernandes funeral will be held on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at 8:30 am from The Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Anthony Church School St, Taunton. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, February 23rd from 4 to 7 pm.
