Alvaro Defreitas

Alvaro DeFreitas, age 64 of Taunton, passed away on April 26, 2019 at Morton Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Maria ( Cabral ) DeFreitas

Alvaro was born in Terceira, Azores, the son of Alvaro Freitas and the late Elci (Dias) Freitas

Before retiring Mr. DeFreitas was employed with Morton Hospital. He enjoyed traveling to CA, golf, fishing and doing yard work. He was a member of the Taunton Eagles, Ward 5 and Taunton Sports Soccer Club. Most of all Alvaro was a loving and caring man who was devoted to his family.

Besides his beloved wife Maria of over 43 years and his father, Alvaro is survived by three brothers; Manuel Freitas of New Bedford, Jorge Freitas of Taunton, Jose Freitas of Swansea and a sister Lucia Borba of Taunton, as well as several nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held on Wednesday, May 1, 2019 at 8:30am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Anthony Church School Street, Taunton.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, April 30th from 4 to 7 pm in the Silva Funeral Home. (Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.)
