Andre H. Faria, Sr.

Andre H. Faria, Sr., age 82 of Taunton, passed away on April 22, 2020 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side.

He was the beloved husband of Maria Salomé (Moitoso) Faria.

Andre was born in the village of Norte Pequeno on the Island of Faial in the Azorean Archipelago. He is the son of the late Manuel Agôsto Faria and Maria Emilia (Andrade) Faria.

Before retiring, Mr. Faria was employed as a supervisor with Coppercraft Guild in Taunton, MA.

In his younger years, Andre enjoyed fishing with his sons and brothers.

He was also an avid vegetable gardener who meticulously tended to his grapevines and later in life was known by his family, friends and neighbors as an expert tomato grower. His greatest joy however was spending time with his wife who was the love his life, their sons and their grandchildren - his living garden who he always tended to lovingly.

Besides Maria his beloved wife of 56 years, Andre is survived by his four (4) loving sons; André H. Faria, Jr. and his wife Beth of East Freetown, MA; Dennis M. Faria and his fiancée Margaret Andrade of Taunton, MA (and her sons and grandchildren); Paul Faria of Fall River, MA and Michael Faria and his wife Nancy of Assonet, MA. He was the cherished grandfather of Nicholas A. Faria and his wife Kelsey of East Taunton, MA; Kyle M. Correia of New Bedford, MA; Kaitlyn M. Correia of East Freetown, MA; Paul Ryan Faria of Muncie, IN; Courtney A. Faria of Tuscon, AZ; Kurt M. Correia of Fitchburg, MA; Kaitlyn N. Faria of Salt Lake City, UT; Xavier R. Faria of Assonet, MA; Selma R. Faria of Assonet, MA; Lily A. Rannacher of Taunton, MA; Cruz R. Faria of Assonet, MA; London L. Faria of Somerset, MA and Bradey L. Faria of Somerset, MA. He is also the brother of José M. Faria and his wife Maria Helena of Lehigh Acres, FL and Manuel H. Faria and his wife Maria dos Anjos of Taunton, MA.

He was predeceased by his beloved sister Alvarina Duarte. Mr. Faria also held in esteem both his deceased and surviving brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law, several godchildren, many nieces and nephews, as well as numerous cousins – all of whom are spread out throughout the United States, Canada and Portugal. He enjoyed the Horton Street neighborhood where he lived and the many kind neighbors with whom he had the pleasure of interacting over the years.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, April 26, 2020 from 2 to 6pm in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.

For the protection of all involved, the family is requesting that all visitors exercise universal precautions and wear a mask and gloves. Please wait in your vehicle and a staff member will escort you in the building.

A private grave-side service was held in Saint Joseph Cemetery.

A memorial Mass and celebration of Andre’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at 11 am in Saint Anthony Church School Street, Taunton. Please park in the back parking lot of the church. Facial coverings and social distancing will be observed.
