Anna D. (Zappulla) Sousa, age 88 of Taunton, passed away on February 16, 2022 at her residence with her loving family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of the late Francis J. Sousa for 65 years.
Born in Boston, MA Anna was the daughter of the late Anthony and Paulina (Nasise) Zappulla.
Before retiring, Mrs. Sousa was employed with Fernandes Supermarket, Shaw’s Supermarket, City of Taunton School Cafeteria at multiple schools, City of Taunton Crossing Guard 1986 to 2018 retiring from Leddy School.
She joyously devoted her life to her family and friends, and wholeheartedly loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed sharing her Italian cooking heritage with all and she also enjoyed her trips to Foxwoods.
Anna is survived by her loving children; Cheryl Burke, Francis “Frank” Sousa Jr. and wife Ruth Soderberg, both of Taunton and John Sousa of Assonet. Grandmother of Billy, Kara, Kelsy, Lindsey, Brittany, Paige, Christina, Renee, Arianna and Amanda, great-grandmother of 5. She was also the mother of the late Paul Sousa and sister of the late Rose Teixeira.
Anna’s funeral with visitation will be held on Monday, February 21, 2022 at 9am in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 am in Saint Mary’s Church Broadway, Taunton. Interment will be held privately.
