Anthony "Tony" John Perry

d. February 6, 2024

Anthony “Tony” John Perry was born in 1931 to his late parents John & Jennie (Silva) Perry in Hyannis, Massachusetts. He was the eighth of nine children and lived most of his life in South Dennis, MA. Tony graduated from Yarmouth High in 1949. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1952 and was on his way to Korea when the armistice was signed so he was diverted to Japan where he provided transportation and supplies to the troops on the ground. On his return to civilian life in 1954, Tony started working as a Truck Driver for what was then the Leon W. Hall Lumberyard which eventually became the Mid-Cape Home Center. Tony worked in Management and Contractor Sales at Mid-Cape for 47 years.

Tony enjoyed 43 wonderful years of marriage to Barbara Marcellino of Harwich. Barbara was a much-beloved member of the community, having worked in both the Dennis and Harwich Town Offices, the Dennis school system and then as a Visiting Nurse. Tony and Barbara raised their sons, Kenneth and Christopher in South Dennis. Tony took pride in renovating their house that was across from the original family homestead where Tony was himself raised from the time he was born. Tony remained in the house until Barbara passed away in 1997. Tony remarried Lois (White) Wakefield-Perry in 2000 and appreciated Lois and her family for the joy they brought to his life.

Tony liked gardening, woodworking, playing golf, watching the Red Sox and taking care of his home and family. His faith was central in his life and Tony attended the Church of the Nazarene in Dennis for many years while living on the Cape.

Tony was predeceased by his first wife, Barbara, and leaves behind his dear sons, Kenneth Perry, his wife, Terri, of Marstons Mills, MA  and their daughter, Este-Marie, and Christopher Perry and his partner, Trace Salter, of Peaks Island, ME  and his children Miles, Oliver, and Sailor. Tony’s late siblings are Manuel, Claire, Eugene, Mary, John Jr., Charles, Frances, and Jack.

Tony also leaves behind his loving wife, Lois Wakefield-Perry, his stepdaughter, Janice McGovern of Raynham, MA, and stepsons Stephen Wakefield and James Wakefield, both of Assonet, MA, and Lois’ eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
