Antone A. Arruda

Antone A. Arruda, 96, a lifelong resident of Taunton, passed away on Tuesday, October 16, 2018 at Morton Hospital. He was the husband of the late Mary R. (Amaral) Arruda.

Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary (Paiva) Arruda.

He served his country proudly in the United States Army during World War II.

Antone worked as a maintenance engineer at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Brockton for many years before retirement.

Mr. Arruda loved gardening in his younger years. He also loved going to the casinos with his late wife and spending time with all of his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Antone enjoyed a fine cup of tea and a good meal.

He is survived by his children, James J. Arruda, of Taunton, whom he resided with, Kenneth Arruda, of Taunton, and Anne Arruda Hyland, of West Dennis; nine grandchildren; many great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Antone was the father of the late David Arruda, great grandfather of the late Nolan Arruda, and was preceded in death by his eleven siblings.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Antone’s committal service and interment with military honors on Friday, October 19, 2018 at 12:00 noon, in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Taunton. Visiting hours will be respectfully omitted.
