Antone Silvia, Jr.

Antone “Papa” Silvia, Jr., age 82 of East Taunton, passed away on December 25, 2017 at Morton Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Eileen (LaCombe) Silvia.

Antone was born in Fall River, a son of the late Antone and Irene (Silvia) Silvia, Sr.

Before retirement, Mr. Silvia was employed for over 15 years with the former Paragon Gear Co. He was a former president for the East Taunton Little League, where he was also a coach. Mr. Silvia was also a coach with the Taunton Babe Ruth Baseball League. In later years Antone played for several Softball Leagues.

Besides his beloved wife Eileen of over 65 years, he is survived by his children, Debra Baker and husband Richard of Brockton, Antone Silvia, III of Taunton, Michael Silvia and Janice of Roanoke VA, and the late Patricia Martin and husband Richard of Berkley. He was the grandfather of Donald “Bum” and Tammy, Heather and wife Abby, Jennifer and husband Kevin, Ricky and wife Kate,  Mellissa and Erica, and the late Dawn. The great-grandfather of Dominque “Boo”, Isabella, Michael, Madison, Alyssa,  Ruby, Mikaella, Jake and Kourtney. He was also the brother of the late William Silvia, August Desrosiers, Dorothy Oliveira, Margaret Carvalho and Beatrice Cabral.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, January 1, 2018 from 2 to 5pm in The Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) in Taunton.

(Additional parking with handicap access is located on the north side of the funeral home)

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at 10 am in Holy Family Church Middleboro Avenue in East Taunton. (Relatives and friends may meet directly at church.)

Interment will be held privately.
