Antonio G. Barbosa, age 71, of Taunton, passed away on December 15, 2024 at his residence with his loving family by his side. He was the loving husband for 37 years to Marcia (Vieira) Barbosa.
Born in Fogo, Cape Verde, Antonio was born to the late Manuel and Ana (Gomes) Barbosa. He was raised and grew up in Cape Verde. While residing in Cape Verde, Antonio worked as a Police Officer in Sal Island. In 1982 he pursued his American Dream and immigrated to the United States of America. While in the US, Antonio was the catalyst for his family, sponsoring many of his relatives to receive the appropriate paperwork and visas.
A hardworking man, Antonio worked at Boston Whaler in Hingham as a parts manufacturer for a short time before working as a Fabricator for Krikhill TA for many years in Taunton. He was always on time for his shifts, and took great pride in providing for his family.
In his spare time, Antonio had a wide variety of hobbies and interests. He enjoyed watching and playing soccer, especially cheering on his favorite club, Benfica. He liked to cook, swim and do yard work. Antonio loved to host parties for all to enjoy. He had a big heart and always put others in front of himself, helping anyway possible. Above all, he cherished the time spent and memories made with his treasured family.
Antonio is survived by his proud children: Anthony Barbosa, Jonathan Barbosa and his wife Stephanie, and Phillip Barbosa and his significant other Georgia Moore; his grandchildren: Jaylen Barbosa and soon to be born Kieran Barbosa; his siblings: Manuel Barbosa and his wife Maria, Miguel Barbosa and his wife Gilena, Catarina Barros and her husband Arlindo, Isabel Alves and her husband Inacio, and Lidia Barbosa; and also his 26 nieces and nephews.
Antonio’s funeral will be held on Thursday, December 19, 2024 at 8:30am am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Anthony Church School Street, Taunton.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 18th from 4 to 7 pm in the Silva Funeral Home. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
