Antonio (da poça) Bairos Paiva, age 89 of Taunton peacefully passed away on the 23rd of March 2025 at his residence with his loving family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of the late Conceiçao Moreira and Rosa Paiva.
Antonio was born in 1935 in Santa Maria, Açores. He was the son of the late Maria and Antonio Paiva. He moved to Taunton in 1978 with his wife Rosa and their seven children and worked at Reed & Barton until his retirement. His true passion was tending to his large garden and grapevines, pruning his fruit trees, making homemade wine, playing sueca with his family and friends, and traveling to Santa Maria. Above all, his greatest joy was spending time with his family, whom he loved so much. He was a communicant of St. Anthony’s Parish and a member and volunteer of the Holy Ghost Society. He is survived by his son José and his wife Susy Paiva of Taunton, six daughters Maria and her husband George Chaves, Connie and her husband Jimmy Lukasewski, Natalia and her husband Antonio Cabral, Adelina and her husband José Figueira, Lidia and her husband Antonio Braga (all of Taunton), and Lucia and her husband George Silveira of Raynham. Grandfather of Jamie Lukasewski, Melissa Baldwin, Brian Chaves, Cristina Minsker, Ashlee Banana, George Silveira (Jr.), Joey Paiva, Kyle Tavares, Jessica Paiva, Destiny Tavares, Nicole Cabral, Sergio Figueira, Derek Braga, and Nelson Cabral. Great-Grandfather of 14, and Great-Great-Grandfather of 3. Antonio is survived by his brother Manuel and his wife Assuncão Paiva of Canada, sister-in-law Diamantina Paiva of Taunton, brothers-in-law Francisco Coelho and João Moreira both of Canada, and several Godchildren, nieces and nephews.
Antonio’s funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton on Thursday, March 27, 2025 at 8:30 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Anthony’s Church, Taunton at 10 am. Interment will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, March 26th, from 4 to 7 pm in the Silva Funeral Home.
