BROCKTON/RAYNHAM - Antonio J. Silva, husband of Maria C. (Conceicao) Silva, died on Tuesday, Oct. 7th at his Raynham home at the age of 77.
Born in Lages das Flores, Azores, he was the son of the late Antonio and Margarida (Raimundo) da Silva.
Before moving to the U.S. in 1978, he worked as a self-employed builder, and served in the Portuguese Army.
Settling in the Stoughton area, he later moved to Brockton where he lived for many years, before his recent move to Raynham.
He retired in 1987 after working for Malden Mills in Lawrence and Solar Seal in Easton.
A communicant of St. Ann Church in Raynham, and member of Club Luis de Comoes of Stoughton, he enjoyed gardening and fishing, but was happiest when with his grandchildren.
Besides his wife, he leaves 5 sons, Adalberto Silva of Wilmington, Amilcar Silva of Raynham, Antonio Silva of Taunton, Oliver Silva of Easton and Arquimedes Silva of New Bedford; a daughter, Sandra Silva of Brockton; 3 brothers, Jose Antonio Raimundo of CA, Joao Luiz Raimundo and Izaias Raimundo, both of Lawrence; 2 sisters, Maria Silva and Teresa Melo, both of Lawrence; 17 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; his daughters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Jose daSilva.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday, Oct. 11th at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Ann Church, Raynham at 9 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours will be Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m.
