TAUNTON - After a long illness, Armando Medeiros, husband of Erma (Silva) Medeiros of Taunton, died peacefully surrounded by loved ones on Friday, Dec. 16, 2011.
He was 87.
A lifelong resident of Taunton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Rose (Medeiros) Medeiros.
He was a World War II Army Veteran wounded in Italy and awarded the Purple Heart.
Armando loved to learn and was a barber, masseuse, and plumber before he began a 22-year career at the Taunton Post Office.
He was a communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church, and a member of VFW Post 611 and DAV Chapter 57 where he served as a Chaplin.
In addition to Erma, his wife of sixty-four years, Armando leaves his niece, Bev Franklin of Wrentham, who compassionately advocated for his care; his sister, Lucy Souza of Taunton; two brothers, Fernand and Antone Medeiros, both of Taunton; and nine nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Thursday, Dec. 22nd at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at Annunciation of the Lord Church at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 21st from 5 to 8 p.m.
