Arthur B. Murray, Sr, age 91 of Taunton, passed away on June 5, 2026, at Morton Hospital, surrounded by his loving family.
He was the beloved husband of the late Betty D. (Green) Murray, who passed in 2020.
Born in Boston, the son of the late Joshua and Mary (McLean) Murray.
While serving in the US Navy, Mr. Murray was an Aircraft mechanic and a Firefighter and directed planes on and off the flight decks of aircraft carriers. He served during the Korean and Vietnam wars and proudly served aboard seven aircraft carriers; The USS Antietam, The USS Wasp, The USS Tarawa, The USS Lake Champlain, The USS Leyte, The USS Constellation and the USS Kitty Hawk. He completed two tours in Vietnam. Mr. Murray was awarded with the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.
Mr. Murray retired from the US Navy, after twenty years of service.
Arthur enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing and anything involving the ocean. He is remembered fondly for teaching his children and grandchildren, nieces, nephews and their friends how to fish. He also had a great love for animals and had many dogs and cats over the years.
Arthur is survived by his loving children, Sandra Sevigny and her husband, Joseph and Kathleen Moniz and her husband, John; both of East Taunton, His sons, William A, Murray and Allen D. Murray both of Lakeville and Arthur B. Murray, Jr, and his wife, Lisa; of North Dighton, grandfather of Michael, Matthew, Daniel, Jillian and Kathryn, great-grandfather of Christian, Henry, Caspian, Dahlia and Eliana. He was the proud father of the late Joyce Murray Arthur is the beloved Uncle to many nieces and nephews across the country. He was also predeceased by several brothers and sisters.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Taunton Animal Shelter.
Arthur’s funeral services will be private and will be held at a later date.
