Arthur Wilbur, fondly known as Butch, age 77 of Taunton, passed away at his residence on August 16, 2025 with his loved ones by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Diane (Cappiello) Wilbur.
Born in Taunton, Butch was the son of the late Chester and Elsie (Austin) Wilbur.
Butch was a graduate of Taunton High School and was a life- long resident of Taunton. In his youth he loved fast cars and motorcycles. Butch loved his family and family trips to the Cape, Atlantic City as well as trips to Disney World. He also enjoyed yearly trips to Saratoga with his good friend Donny Rounds. In his later years his passion was golf, especially golf tournaments in New Hampshire with his group of friends.
Butch worked for Jimmy O’Connell at Lines Inc, until he ventured into his own endeavors. He started with Arties Pub on Weir Street and he also owned Washington Street Pub, but his pride and joy was owning Pub 76 where he met many lifelong friends that he talked fondly of in his later years.
Although he insisted to his friend he would never get married, he then met the love of his life Diane Cappiello and married in 1982. They spent 43 happy years together and had two beautiful daughters, Melissa and Amanda.
He will be greatly missed by all and as Butch would say “Don’t Worry Be Happy”.
Besides his beloved wife Diane of over 43 years, he is survived by his loving children, Amanda Wilbur of Taunton, Melissa Wilbur of Brockton and Mary Hardiman of Avon, grandfather of Alyssa, Jake and Abby, great-grandfather of 3. He was also the brother of Judy DaCosta of Taunton, and brother of the late Richard Wilbur, Ron Wilbur, Lillian Angevine, Jean Schuttauf and a late step-sister Althea Boullier, he was also the grandfather of the late Giavanna Tangaro.
