Ashwin "Kash" Kaminda Fernando, age 43 of Wakefield, died unexpectedly on September 16, 2018. He was the beloved husband of Melissa (Boyington) Fernando. Ashwin was born in Sri Lanka, but spent most of his childhood in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. He immigrated to the Boston area with his family as a teenager.
Ashwin was passionate about body-building. He spent many years working on his career in the body-building world as a fitness model and competitor having won many awards. His wife Melissa was his favorite workout partner. They traveled often and spent a lot of their free time exploring new adventures. His favorite place was Longboat Key, Florida. Ashwin loved music, dancing, attending concerts, and watching movies. He was an avid Patriots fan and enjoyed watching games with his friends. Ashwin loved playing with his nephews and spending time with his family, especially his sister. His kitten Maui was among one of his greatest treasures.
In addition to his wife, Ashwin is survived by his adoring parents, Neville and Iranganie (Gunasekera) Fernando of Berkley. He was the loving brother of Ashini (Vasthu) Fernando and Ashan Fernando and his wife, Megan, all of Berkley. Ashwin was the beloved Godfather and uncle to Aacen Fernando and the adoring uncle to Axel Fernando. He was also the loving Godfather to Adriana Hawley of South Windsor, CT. Ashwin leaves behind his beloved mother-in-law, Lorraine Boyington, of Longboat Key, FL and also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends from around the globe.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday, September 22, 2018 from 3-6 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 6pm in the chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.( Additional parking with handicap access is located on the north side of the funeral home.) Burial will be held privately.
