Augusto Da Rosa Da Fonte

Augusto da Rosa da Fonte , 80, of Taunton, passed away peacefully on Friday evening, January 11, 2019 at Longmeadow of Taunton. He was the beloved husband of Maria J. (Fraga) da Fonte for 53 years.

Born in Faial, Portugal, he was a son of the late Jose and Guilhermina (Rodrigues) da Fonte.

He worked for Royce Aluminum for many years, prior to retirement.

Augusto enjoyed playing cards, watching soccer and hockey, going for walks with his grand-kids, but most of all enjoyed spending time with his family.

Besides his wife, he leaves his two loving daughters, Maria F. Collazo, of Taunton, MA and Maria C. Barkhouse, and her husband, Stephen, of Gloucester; a sister, Maria A. da Fonte, of Faial, Portugal; three grandchildren, Marcus J. Collazo, Elizabeth A. Collazo, and Cristina E. Fonte; and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Maria G. de Andrade, Jose Rodrigues, and Maria C. Mello.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton (at Saint Mary’s Square).

Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.

Augusto’s funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at 8:30 am, from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton (at Saint Mary’s Square) A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am, in Annunciation of the Lord Church 31 First Street, Taunton.

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
