Barbara Ann (Tremblay) Lavallee, age 79 of Raynham, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2021 at Boston Medical Center.
Born in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Barbara was the daughter of Doris Tremblay. Following the death of her mother in 1949, Barbara was adopted and raised by her aunt, Thelma V. Tremblay and her uncle, Paul E. Tremblay, growing up in Rehoboth, Massachusetts. She graduated from East Providence High School in 1960 and married the late Joseph P. Lavallee in 1962. She worked as a nurse’s aide before earning her LPN license from the Pondville School of Nursing in 1972 where she graduated near the top of her class. She went on to serve as a nurse at Sturdy Memorial Hospital in Attleboro. In a life full of challenges, she found great joy in her visits to the ocean, seafood dinners, rooting for the Red Sox, listening to Judy Garland and Barbara Streisand, and spending time with her two grandchildren, Ryan and Carly.
Survivors include her brothers, Paul R. Tremblay of New Port Richey, Florida, and Roger R. Tremblay, of East Providence, RI. She is also survived by her children, Joseph P. Lavallee of Taipei, Taiwan, James K. Lavallee of Rehoboth, and Jennifer L. (Lavallee) Martin of Pawtucket, RI, as well as by two grandchildren, Ryan M. Martin of Warwick, RI, and Carly A. Martin of Pawtucket, RI, along with many nieces and nephews. Sadly, she was preceded in death by her twin daughters, Christie Lee and Cheryl Ann, who passed away on the same night from Sudden Infant Death Syndrome in 1968.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, January 10, 2022 at 10 am in Saint Ann Church 660 North Main Street, Raynham. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Her burial will be held privately.
