Barbara (Beers) Oldrid

Barbara (Beers) Oldrid, age 80, of Raynham, passed away on December 6, 2017 at Life Care Center of Raynham  after a lengthy illness.

She was the beloved wife of Arthur E. Oldrid.

Barbara was born in Roxbury, a daughter of the late David and Rodena (Campbell) Beers.

Barbara worked at the Brockton Veterans hospital for 24 years. She began as a Nursing Assistant in 1971. She continued her education after the death of her beloved sister Carol in 1982. She studied nursing and became a RN in 1987. She continued working at the VA as a Staff Charge Nurse until her retirement in 1995. She then became a volunteer at Hospice Care of Greater Taunton. Barbara loved being a nurse.

Barbara enjoyed days at the Beach, her cottage on the cape, family vacations and visiting yard sales on the weekends.

Besides her loving husband Arthur of  60 years, she is survived by her loving children,  Brenda Mitchell of Taunton,  Peter J. Oldrid of Raynham and Jennifer Wyatt of Middleboro, grandmother of Crystal, Jessica, Justin, Samantha, Danielle, Abbey and Katherine, great-grandmother of Kaitlyn, Hanna, Harper and Cole. Barbara was also the sister of the late Carol Higgins, Robert Stewart, Stanley, William and Frank  Beers,  Annie Hinchy and the late Audry Beers.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at 10 am in the Westville Congregational Church 415 Winthrop St in Taunton. A private burial will take place in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, December 13th  from  4  to 7 pm in the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton. (Additional parking with handicap access is located on the north side of the funeral home).
