Barry P. Medeiros, aged 43, of Taunton, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, August 9, 2024, in Boston.
Born in Taunton, he was the oldest of three children and the only son to Maria Ponte and the late Manuel V. Medeiros, who passed away on April 24, 2023.
He grew up in Taunton, where he attended Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School, Mulcahy Middle School, and Taunton High School.
Barry spent his final day working at the Emerson Majestic Theater. Barry was known to love the sites where he got to work; Most recently, Fenway Park, Boston University, and many other historical sites. One of his most memorable job sites was helping to build Bass Pro Shop from the ground up. These places he not only had the opportunity to help construct, but share great memories with his family and friends. Barry started working in the field of construction at the age of 18, wanting to follow in his father’s footsteps.
He was most recently employed as a Union Journeyman based out of Laborer Local 721 in Brockton. He was well-liked and respected by his colleagues and always will be remembered for his kindness to others and always getting the job done.
He enjoyed exploring different areas of philosophy and sharing his findings with anyone willing to listen. Barry will be remembered by his wisdom, sense of humor, big heart, his kind soul, but most of all, the love he had for his children and family. His closest friends recall Barry’s main topic of discussion as how proud he was of his children and their pursuit of higher education. He will be forever remembered as one of a kind.
In his spare time, Barry loved being outdoors, whether it was hiking or exploring the depths of Alaska. He was an avid storyteller and skilled in both poker and chess. Barry enjoyed working in Boston and loved the city and its people. Boston gained an angel. Above all, Barry was most happy when he was in the presence of and making memories with his devoted family. He always showed his children how to be anything, but ordinary and will always be remembered by his children as their Superman.
In addition to his mother, Barry is survived by his cherished children: Jocelyn Medeiros and Colton Medeiros; his sisters: Michelle Medeiros and her partner John Madden and Melanie Medeiros and her significant other Charlie Bentley; his nephew: James Ryan; his former partner and the mother of his children: Melanie Banks; his loving partner in life, Heather Lima and her two children; he will be greatly missed by extended family members and friends.
Barry’s Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday , August 16, 2024 at 9am in St. Anthony Church, 126 School St., Taunton. There will be no procession from the funeral home. Relatives and friends are asked to meet directly at St. Anthony Church and park in the lot behind the church, where funeral home staff will be present to assist.
Interment will be held in St. Joseph Cemetery, E Britannia St., Taunton.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday , August 15, 2024 from 4pm to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square), Taunton.
