Bernard L. Hamilton, Jr., 99, of Taunton, passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2021 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was the husband of Lillian R. (Silviera) Hamilton.
Born in Pepperell, MA, he was the son of the late Bernard L. Hamilton Sr., and Mabel (Young) Hamilton.
Bern was a graduate of the University of Maine, Class of 1948, with a BS degree in chemical engineering.
He worked as a paper consultant at the former Mount Hope Machinery Co. in Taunton for many years before retiring in 1989.
During World War II, he enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country proudly from 1942-1946. He served in the Pacific Theater with Carrier Air Group 88 aboard the USS Yorktown as a fighter bomber pilot.
Bern was an avid golfer and had been a member of the Norton Country Club for many years. He loved spending time with family and friends, reading, cooking, and music, especially Frank Sinatra.
In addition to his wife Lillian, he leaves his children, Susanne L .Taylor-Damon, of Norwood, Jon J. Hamilton, and his wife, Meg, of Medway, Tom T. Hamilton, and his wife, Barbara, of Pleasantville, NY, and Mona H. Walsh, and her husband, Mark, of Dedham; eight loving grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Bern was preceded in death by his siblings, Doris Kemp, and Milton, William, and Charles Hamilton.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a private memorial service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Avenue, Suite 6, Waltham, MA 02451 in Bern's memory would be deeply appreciated.
