Blanca I. (Sanchez) Ortiz, age 72 of Taunton, passed away on October 15, 2018 in her home.
She was the beloved wife of Jaime Ortiz, Sr. Blanca was born in Manati, Puerto Rico, the daughter of the late Fulgencio Sanchez and the late Luz Maria Melendez Class. Before retiring, Blanca was employed with Nabisco as a machine operator for many years. She enjoyed cooking, the outdoors, feeding birds, building puzzles, going to yard-sales and spending time with family and her loving dog Macky.
Besides her beloved husband Jaime of over 50 years, she is survived by her loving children, Jaime Ortiz Jr., Orlando Ortiz and Olga (Ortiz) Marrero and her late husband Jaime Marrero, all of Taunton, her sisters, Margarita Sanchez, Carman Galindez, her husband Julio Galindez, Noemi Leon, all of Taunton, along with five other step-siblings. She was the grandmother of Jaime Marrero Jr., Elizabeth Marrero, Anastasia Ortiz, Yolanda Ortiz, Bianca Ortiz, and Kisha Mateo, all of Taunton. Mrs. Ortiz was also the great-grandmother of Allanna Marrero, Isaac Cleary, Keegan Cleary, Colby Cleary, Damian Sproul and Alexander McElroy. She is also survived by her uncle Ricardo Melendez Class, which raised Mrs. Ortiz and her siblings, she had a very big family with many nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2018 at 11:00 am followed by a funeral service at 12:30 pm in the Chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) in Taunton. Interment will follow in Mayflower Hill Cemetery.
