TAUNTON- Carlos E. Rosa, age 81, of Taunton, passed away in the late evening of Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at his home, surrounded by the love, comfort, and care of his dear family. He was the devoted and adored husband for 53 years to Arlette M. (Tavares) Rosa of Taunton.

Born in Horta, Faial, Azores, Carlos was one of three children and the only son born to the late Eugenio DaRosa and Rosa (Sousa) Xavier.

He grew up in Faial and he was a veteran of the Portuguese Air Force. He, along with his wife, immigrated to the United States in 1970, settling in Taunton.

For many years, and prior to his well deserved retirement, Carlos worked as a Machine Operator for Copper Craft and Bacon Felt.

A reverent follower of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, Carlos was a devout Catholic. He was a devoted parishioner at Our Lady of Holy Rosary Church in Taunton, a house of worship which always held a special place in his heart.

In his spare time, Carlos enjoyed going fishing, singing, and dancing. He was a proud and active member of the Grupo Amigos da Terceira located in Pawtucket. Above all, he cherished the time spent and memories made with his dear family.

In addition to his wife, Carlos is survived by his cherished children: Robert Rosa of Taunton, Michael Rosa of Taunton, Fatima Carlos and her husband Steven of Taunton, and Mark Rosa and his fiance Jessica Herrick of Taunton; his 11 grandchildren; his mother-in-law: Celemia Tavares; his sister-in-law: Gelsemina Sardinha and her husband Tome; and also nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family members.

Carlos is predeceased by his two sisters: Maria Amelia Silveira and Antonietta Pereira.

Carlos’s funeral will be held on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 8:30am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Our Lady of the Holy Rosary, 80 Bay Street, Taunton.

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, December 10 , from 2 to 4pm in the Silva Funeral Home.
