Charles D. Correia

EAST TAUNTON - Charles D. Correia, husband of the late Leonilda Anne (Correia) Correia, died at Longmeadow of Taunton on Feb. 24, 2011.
He was 97.
Born in Raynham, he was the son of the late Jose D. and Izabel (do Monte) Correia.
Raised and educated in Taunton, he was employed as a cobbler in area shoe factories, and as a maintenance worker for the former Dever School.
Mr. Correia was a communicant of Holy Family Church, and an avid reader.
He was known for his skill with tools, and a talent for fixing anything.
In his earlier years, he built his home, and enjoyed maintaining it and working in his yard.
A family man at heart, he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Charles Correia of Lecanto, FL; a daughter, Mary E. Wainfor of Taunton; six grandchildren, Kevin Thomas, Karen Wilbur, Christine Firlit, Michael Kelly, and Alan and Brian Correia; four great grandchildren, Courtney, Brice, Issaac and Tucker; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also the brother of the late Beatrice Mendes, Mercy and Antone Correia, and Mary Silvia.
A funeral mass will be held at Holy Family Church, East Taunton on Wednesday, March 2nd at 10 a.m.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery.
