TAUNTON- Cimodoceia C. Melo, age 97, of Taunton, passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023 at CareOne at New Bedford. She was the devoted wife to the late Manuel S. Melo.
Born in Velas, Sao Jorge, Azores, she was one of four daughters born to the late Jose B. and Maria S. (Brito) Borges. She grew up and was educated in the Azores and in 1967, with her husband and son, immigrated to the United States settling in Taunton.
Before retiring in 1990, Cimodoceia worked as an Assembler for Parker Brothers in the Myles Standish Industrial Park.
She was a parishioner of St. Anthony Church in Taunton.
In her spare time she enjoyed crocheting, sewing, and cooking delicious meals for her family. Above all, she was most happy with the time spent and memories made with her dear family.
Cimodoceia is survived by her only son: Humberto “Bert” Melo and his wife Mary of Taunton; her grandchildren: Kurt Melo and his wife Mellissa of Middleboro and Joia Carper of West Virginia; her five great-grandchildren: Jordan, Mason, Kayden, Kai, and Charlytte; her sister: Celemeia Tavares; and also numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
She is predeceased by her two sisters: Iria Amaral and Elizabeth King.
Cimodoceia’s funeral will be held on Friday, December 22, 2023 at 7:45am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9am in St. Anthony Church, 126 School St., Taunton.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, December 21 , from 5 to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home.
