Daniel Ferrucci-Herzberg of Somerset MA passed away suddenly and unexpectedly on September 19, 2026, at the age of 38.

Daniel will be remembered above all for the extraordinary love and devotion he had for his family, especially his wife of seven years, Kayla Ferrucci-Herzberg, and their four-year-old son, Luca Thomas Ferrucci-Herzberg. Being Kayla’s husband and Luca’s dad was the most important role in Daniel’s life, and the love he had for them was woven into everything he did.

Daniel was also someone who had a gift for bringing people together. He loved opening his home to friends and family, hosting parties and game nights, and making room for new people. He was the kind of person who made gatherings feel easy, welcoming, and fun, and many of his friendships grew around a table, a game, or a shared project. He was known for his generosity and for being someone who loved loudly.

Professionally, Daniel was an award-winning Senior Mechanical Engineer with Goddard Technologies and an expert user of SOLIDWORKS. For more than 15 years, he was a familiar and beloved part of the SOLIDWORKS World conference community, where he built friendships that extended far beyond the professional setting. He eventually became the host and organizer of the community’s annual “CAD Monkey Dinner,” a role that suited him perfectly and reflected his natural instinct to connect people and create traditions.

A graduate of Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Daniel was a member of Alpha Phi Omega (APO), the national service fraternity. APO would also become part of one of the most important stories of his life: Daniel later met Kayla at a national APO gathering, where their shared connection to the organization brought them together.

Daniel was an avid traveler and adventurer who endlessly curious, creative, and happiest when he was making, building, fixing, playing, or sharing something with the people he loved. He had a talent and passion for photography, musical theater, superheroes, LEGO, board games, video games—especially Halo—and could often be found working on a craft, tackling a home improvement project, or creating something with his 3D printer. He was a craftsman, a handyman, an engineer, and a maker in every sense of the word.

More than any hobby, accomplishment, or professional achievement, though, Daniel treasured the life he built with Kayla and Luca. His family was the center of his world, and those closest to him knew how deeply proud he was of the home and family they created together, and how much joy he found in being Kayla’s husband and Luca’s dad.

Daniel is survived by his beloved wife, Kayla Ferrucci-Herzberg; his son, Luca Thomas Ferrucci-Herzberg; his mother, Gail Morgan; his father and stepmother, Steven and Laura Herzberg; his parents-in-law, Lisa and Tom Ferrucci; his beloved niece, Ava Ferrucci; and countless friends, colleagues, and members of the many communities whose lives were made better just by knowing him.

Daniel’s absence leaves an immeasurable space in the lives of those who loved him. He will be remembered for his creativity, humor, generosity, curiosity, and the way he made people feel welcome. Above all, he will be remembered as a devoted husband, a loving father, and someone who built not only things, but friendships, traditions, and community wherever he went.
