David "Speedy" Aleixo

David “Speedy” Aleixo, age 65 of Taunton, passed away on September 24, 2026 at his residence.

He was the son of the late Gerald Aleixo and Marion (Rose) Brown.

Speedy was born and raised in the Weir section of Taunton and the Weir held a special place in his heart. Even after he moved from the Weir, he would return several days a week to visit his friends there.

Speedy attended and graduated from Taunton schools. After high school, he worked as a landscaper and truck driver until his health no longer allowed him to work. He had a lifelong interest in heavy equipment vehicles and construction. Recently, he spent many happy days watching the ongoing construction project at Memorial Park. Speedy was a simple man who led a simple life. He was a happy-go-lucky guy who would strike up a conversation with a friend or stranger. He ate breakfast every day at Joe’s Diner and loved Kenny, Christine and all the people who worked there dearly. Each and every one of them was like family to him.

He enjoyed going to the car races in Seekonk on Saturday nights during the racing season. He also enjoyed going out for ice cream and loved his coffee milk. He will be dearly missed by his siblings, his nieces and nephews and everyone who loved him.

He is survived by his loving siblings; Deborah Carr and husband Brian, Donna Sherman and husband Stephen, Dianne Aleixo, Darlene Aleixo, Daniel Aleixo and Denise Aleixo. He also leaves his nieces and nephews; Christopher Carr, Matthew Carr and wife Melanie, Elliot Sherman, Stephanie Byron and Alyssa Arieta. He was the brother of the late Doreen Aleixo.

Speedy’s funeral with visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2026 at 9:00am with a funeral home service to begin at 11:00am in the Chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.

Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
