TAUNTON- David J. Cardoza, age 95, lifelong resident of Taunton, passed away on Thursday, October 10, 2024, at Morton Hospital in Taunton, surrounded by loving family. He was the dear and devoted husband to Fabiola P. (Demers) Cardoza, whom he married on July 10 of 1952.
Born in Taunton, David was the oldest of two boys born to the late Joseph and Leonora (Rose) Cardoza. He was raised and grew up in Taunton.
A proud and patriotic man, David served in the US Army during the Korean War, spending much of his time stationed in Germany. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal.
David worked for many years as a Pipefitter for Bay State Gas Company. Prior to that he spent time employed as a Grease Buffer for Reed & Barton in Taunton.
In his spare time, David had a variety of hobbies and interests. He was a member of many bowling leagues in the area and he was a familiar sight at the lanes at Roseland Bowling Alley. He liked to play poker at the East Taunton Social Club and he often tried his luck on the slot machines at various casinos. David enjoyed fishing and in his younger years, he and his wife would go out dancing on the weekends. Above all, he cherished the time spent and memories made with his family.
In addition to his wife, David is survived by his proud sons: Richard Cardoza and his wife Robin and David R. Cardoza; his grandchildren: Eric & Michael Cardoza, Shannon & Sean Geer, and Rebecca Tichelaar; his 12 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; his daughter-in-law: Lynn Tichelaar; his son-in-law: Edward Geer; and also many nieces and nephews.
David is preceded in passing by children: Ronald Cardoza and Cheryl Geer; and also his brother Ronald Cardoza.
David’s funeral with visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 10:00am with a Funeral Service to begin at 11am in the Chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.
Interment will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, where he will be laid to rest with his late children, Ronald and Cheryl.
