David C. Tavares, age 55 of Taunton, passed away on September 12, 2018 at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center with his loving family by his side.

He was the beloved husband of Lucia (Melo) Tavares.

David was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, a son of the late Jose and Maria (Camara) Tavares.

Mr. Tavares was employed as a manager with Dunkin Donuts. David was the former owner and operator of five Dunkin Donuts locations in NJ. He was a very handy person who knew all kind of trades. He loved being on the ocean, but most of all he was a loving and caring person who was devoted to his family.

Besides his beloved wife Lucia of over 38 years, he is survived by his loving children, Christopher C. and Joshua C. Tavares both of Taunton, and the brother of Carlos Tavares of Dighton, Fatima Camara of Raynham, Lucia Oliveira of Bristol, RI, Elaina Tavares of Fall River and Sara Tavares of NJ. He was the grandfather of Julia M. and Brooke E. Tavares. David leaves a dear friend who he always thought of as a daughter, Jessica Dansi. Mr. Tavares was also the brother of the late Joseph Tavares and Fernanda Furtado.

David’s funeral will be held on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 8:30am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Anthony Church School St, Taunton. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, September 16th from 2 to 5 pm in the Silva Funeral Home.
