Delfina “Del” (Laranjo) Cunha, age 95 passed away on January 9, 2026 in Littleton, North Carolina at her home with her loving daughters by her side.
She spent the majority of her life in her hometown of Taunton, Massachusetts where she made her home with her husband John and daughters Laurel (whom she called Lori) and Lisa.
She was the beloved Wife of the late John Cunha, Jr., who died in 2011; she is the beloved Mother aka BME Best Mother Ever of Laurel Hogan from Salinas, California and Lisa Cunha-Butkovich of Littleton, North Carolina; Grandmother to Matthew Hogan of Longmont, Colorado and Colleen Hogan of Sacramento, California, the children of Laurel, and Andrew Butkovich of Portsmouth, Virginia and Jacob Butkovich of Littleton, North Carolina, the children of Lisa; and lastly, Great Grandmother to Esme and Perry, the children of Matthew Hogan. In addition, she had the love of 2 fur babies named Hank and Velika at her home.
Del had 6 siblings: Frank, Edward, Joseph, Gerald, Albert and Mary. The only living sibling is her youngest brother Albert of Taunton, Massachusetts. Lastly, Del is survived by a multitude of nieces and nephews on both the East and West Coasts, neighbors, and friends (although she outlived most of them).
Del worked at Reed & Barton in Taunton before retiring, and prior to that, she worked at Eureka, Raytheon, and a curtain factory. She was praised for always being at work with a good attitude and being a hard worker.
Del and her husband John enjoyed dancing, card games with friends, going on trips, and spending time with family and friends.
Mrs. Cunha’s funeral with visitation will be held on Saturday, January 24, 2026 at 1pm, with a funeral service to begin at 3pm in the chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
Her burial will be held privately in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne with her husband John.
