TAUNTON - Delinda "Linda" (Machado) Perry, wife of the late Joseph Perry, Jr. died at Epoch Senior Health Care of Melrose on Sept. 5, 2011.
She was 87.
Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Francisco and Rose (Placia) Machado.
Raised and educated in Taunton, and a 1941 graduate of Taunton High School,
Mrs. Perry was employed by the Taunton's New York Lace Store for over 50 years, and later worked for The Catering Connection until 1995.
She was a member and past president of the Westside Seniors.
A communicant of St. Andrew the Apostle Church, and member of the Parish Council, she formerly served on the American Cancer Society board of directors, and was a Reach to Recovery volunteer.
In 1982, Mrs. Perry joined the first volunteer class offered by Hospice Care of Greater Taunton, and in 1988 received the Volunteer of the Year Award.
A Taunton resident for most of her life, she moved to Melrose in December of last year.
Survivors include a daughter, Janice L. Linhares of Stoneham; a sister, Margaret Botellio of Taunton; two grandchildren, Joellen M. Beaudet of Melrose and Jesse M. Linhares of Plainville, CT; two great grandchildren, Zachary and Magen Beaudet, both of Melrose; and several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Dolores Raposa of Taunton.
She was also the mother-in-law of the late Jesse Linhares, and the sister of the late Manuel Machado, Madeline Bousquet, Mary Roma, Emma Amaral, and Rose Lima.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Friday, Sept. 9th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass at St. Andrew the Apostle Church, Taunton at 10 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Taunton.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Sept. 8th from 5 to 8 p.m.
