Dominga “Minnie” (Fernandes) Barros, age 95 of Taunton, passed away on August 30, 2021 at Longmeadow Nursing Home with her loving family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of the late Ricardo Barros.
Born in Plymouth, she was the daughter of the late James and Mary (Fernandes) Fernandes.
She was a recipient of the Marion Medal and founding member of the Cape Verdean Club. She was a avid bowler and spent many years bowling in a league at AMF Taunton Lanes.
Minnie is survived by her children; Kathy Costa, Adozinda Barros, Silvia McNulty, Rosemary Ashcroft, Koreen Barros, Kevin Barros, Vincent Barros, Ricardo Barros, Jr., grandchildren; Matthew, Renee, Rhonda ,Ayanna, Eric, Vincent, Jr., Derek, Racquel, Jason and Jared. She also leaves many great-grandchildren, fourteen siblings and several nieces and nephews. Minnie was the mother of the late Morris Fernandes.
Minnie’s funeral will be held on Friday, September 3, 2021 at 8:30 from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00am in Saint Andrew the Apostle Church Kilmer Avenue, Taunton.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, September 2, 2021 from 4 to 7 pm in the Silva Funeral Home (additional parking with handicap access located on the North side of the Funeral home.
