Dorothy Alice (Hadad) Fontes, age 93 of Taunton, passed away on March 1, 2019 at Marion Manor in Taunton.
She was the beloved wife of the late John Fontes.
Mrs. Fontes was the loving mother of Bruce Thibault from Lexington, MI, Wayne Thibault (deceased) and Carol Ann Dawson and husband Kasey of FL., sister of Ronald and Nancy Hadad, grandmother of 15 and great grandmother of 1. She was the sister of the late Robert, Norman, Gerard, Gilbert, and Lillian Hadad, mother – in- law of the late Mary Elizabeth Thibault.
Dorothy was born May 21, 1925 in Fall River, MA a daughter of the late Solomon and Estelle Emerencienee (Jean) Hadad.
Before retiring, Mrs. Fontes was employed at the United States Naval Station in Newport, RI as an office worker for many years, and prior to that she worked in New York City as a Elevator Operator.
Mom was raised in Valhala New York where she attended school. When she was 17 years old her family moved back to Fall River Massachusetts. Mom was able to speak French as a second language.
Four years later she met Roger Thibault and was married to him for 25 years.
She enjoyed gardening, knitting, cooking and baking. Mom was a fantastic baker and yearly she would donate her skills and time for the St. Patrick’s Church in Somerset fund raiser called (The Lawn Party.)
Later in her life she worked at the Catholic Memorial Home as a caretaker.
Around 1977 Mom married John Fontes were they enjoyed living in Taunton.

How much she was loved, how she never let you come over without feeding you. Most important is how much she loved her Family.
I remember Granny’s huge heart and always so very nice to everyone, she wanted everyone to be happy. She loved her family dearly. She lived a long life and although we may think it was not long enough, she can now rest easy with the angels above. I miss you Granny and you will always be in my Heart.
Dorothy’s funeral with visitation will be held on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at 9:30am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square ) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in Annunciation of the Lord Church. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
