Edith D. (Bailey) Lewis, age 87 of Florida, passed away at her home with her family by her side.
She was the wife of the late Richard M. Lewis.
Born in Bridgewater, MA, she was the daughter of the late Elwin and Mary Agnes (MacFadden) Bailey.
As a girl living in Bridgewater, she was a basketball player, cheerleader, and theater enthusiast. After graduating, she moved to Salem, Massachusetts, where she worked as a telephone operator. She married her husband, helped him build his business, obtained her real estate license and broker license, and raised five daughters. They even opened a judo school, where she became a third-degree brown belt. She also enjoyed ten-pin bowling, once achieving a perfect 300. An avid golfer, she was a member of the Fall River Country Club and continued her passion for the sport even after retiring and moving to Florida in 2000.
She is survived by her loving daughters; Kelly Lewis and fiancé Timothy Grey, Kim McGaughran and fiancé Mark Cleaves, Kristine Lewis-Fulkerson and husband John, Keri Lewis and fiance Ken Rebello, Gram to 11 grandchildren, and Gigi to 8 great-grandchildren. She was the mother of the Kathleen M. Lewis who passed away in April 1984.
Edith’s funeral will be held on Monday June 1, 2026 at 9:30am with a funeral home service at 10am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday May 31, 2026 from 1 to 4pm in the Silva Funeral Home.
Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
