Eduardo S. Leandres

Eduardo S. Leandres, age 74 of Taunton, passed away on May 16, 2021 at Morton Hospital.

He was the beloved husband of Maria (Bairos) Leandres.

Eduardo was born in Santa Maria, Azores to the late Manuel Leandres and Maria (Sousa) Leandres.

He worked at Belcher Corporation upon arriving in America in 1972, until he was forced to retire in 2007 due to company closure. He took great pride in tending to his garden and working in his yard. He always looked forward to his yearly vacations to the Cape where he enjoyed fishing, clamming, quahogging, and most especially spending time with his family.  In addition to his summer trips to the Cape he also enjoyed visiting his family back in Santa Maria.

Besides his loving wife Maria of 48 years, he was the devoted father to; Lisa Thomas and husband Keith, Dennis Leandres and wife Catherine, grandchildren; Hailey Enos, Ella Enos, Patrick Leandres, Collin Leandres, Kallen Thomas and Tyler Thomas. He also leaves his sister Eugenia Leandres, brothers-in-law Jose Bairos and wife Maria, Antonio Bairos and wife Filomena, sister-in-law Juvenalia Fontes, and several nieces and nephews. He is also predeceased by his dear sister-in-law Helena Bairos. He was the brother of the late Antonio Leandres, Adelina Leandres, and Maria Freitas.

Eduardo’s funeral will be held on Monday, May 24, 2021 at 7:30 am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9am at Saint Anthony’s Church on School Street, Taunton.

Interment will follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held at the Silva Funeral Home on Sunday, May 23rd from 2 to 5pm. Additional parking with handicap parking access is located on the North side of the funeral home.

During all services, facial coverings and social distancing will be required.
