Eduino Vargas DeFaria, age 86 of Taunton, passed away on June 9, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of over 56 years, Zelia Maria DeFaria.
Besides his beloved wife, he is survived by his loving children Anne-Marie Hooper of Middleboro, MA and her husband William F. Hooper, Lucia Fatima de Faria, David Edwin de Faria and his partner Destiny Frates of Taunton MA. Also survived by his beautiful grandchildren, Kayla Moore, Michael Moore, Alec Bengtson, Selena de Faria, Aliyah de Faria, Abbygael de Faria, Gaebreal de Faria, Bella de Faria, Shane Hooper and his great grandchildren Carson and Thomas Hooper.
Eduino was the brother of Albertina Costa (deceased), Maria Brum (deceased), Antonio Vargas (deceased) Jose Vargas, Etalvina de Faria, Conceicao da Rosa, Odelia da Rosa, Valentina de Faria, Ana da Rosa, Manuel de Faria, Lugero de Faria, Francisco de Faria and Sergio de Faria.
Born in Faial, Azores, Eduino was the son of the late Jose and Ana (Vargas) DeFaria.
Eduino served in the Portuguese Army during the war of Angola, Africa of 1961-1963. He graduated from Nursing school in Lisbon Portugal and when moving to the US, he worked for 25 years at Morton Hospital retiring, as an OR Tech.
Eduino was the President of the Taunton Portuguese Veterans Association and served as a 4th degree Knight of Columbus.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, going to beach and traveling.
Eduino’s funeral will be held on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at 8:30 am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Saint Jude the Apostle Church, Taunton.
Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, June 13 th from 4 to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home.
Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the funeral home.
