Edward M.Cabral, age 83 of Bridgewater, passed away on July 28, 2020 at his home with his loving family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Mirella (Gasparotto) Cabral.
Edward was born in Taunton, the son of the late Edward and Hilda (Frias) Cabral.
Mr. Cabral served his country honorably with the US Air Force from 1961-1963. He received a Bachelor’s degree in Education and went on to receive his Master’s Degree from Bridgewater State College. Mr. Cabral was employed by Stoughton High School as a teacher of Mathematics for 37 years. He loved his work as a teacher, not only for the students of Stoughton, but also of the young children in the neighborhood where he and his family have lived since 1973. In addition to his love of teaching, Mr. Cabral enjoyed traveling with his wife, reading a good book, tending to flowers and vegetables in his garden, playing a hand of cards, and - most of all – spending time with his family.
Besides his beloved wife Mirella of over 50 years, he is survived by his loving children; Lisa Maguire and her husband Rich of Glastonbury, CT; Paula Moodie and her husband Kraig of Hershey, PA; and grandchildren Alexis, Kyra, Courtney and Jake. He was also the brother of Richard Cabral of Goodyear, AZ and Linda Lopes of Henderson, NV.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11am in Saint Anthony Church, 126 School Street, Taunton. Interment with military honors will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, August 2nd from 2 to 5 pm, in SAINT ANTHONY CHURCH, 126 SCHOOL STREET, TAUNTON, in order to maximize social distancing. For the health and safety of all those who attend, please wear a face covering when entering the services.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Edward M. Cabral Memorial Scholarship Fund, which will be established to recognize students of Stoughton High School with excellence in Mathematics.
