Edward J. Castle

Edward J. Castle, Jr, age 75, passed away on August 18, 2026 after a brief illness. Edward is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Dianne (McLaughlin) of Taunton. He was born in Taunton, the son of the late Edward and Rita (Bourque) Castle. He was a lifelong resident of Taunton.

Edward graduated from Monsignor Coyle High School in 1968. He worked at Rand McNally for over 47 years as a bookbinder. He was a hardworking father and loving husband who always put his family first. He never missed a sporting event for any of his children and was always their biggest supporter. He was an avid runner, competing in many local road races. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed spending time with his sons hunting, fishing and golfing. Edward also greatly cherished his lifelong friendship with Edward Johnson.

Dianne was the love of Edward’s life. They enjoyed spending time together through yearly vacations to Nauset Beach and bike riding and walking along the Cape Code Canal. They especially loved spending time with their children and families during the holidays.

He was a kind, loving man who was a friend to all and will be deeply missed by those who knew him.

In addition to his wife, Edward leaves his sons Scott E. Castle and his wife Katy of Taunton, Jonathan P. Castle and wife April of Norwell, and Brendon M.Castle of Braintree; grandchildren Emily Castle and husband Jacob, Claire Castle, Jack Castle, and Molly Castle; his brother Charles Castle and wife Liz, and his sister-in-law Karen Castle. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard Castle.

Edward’s funeral with visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 10 am with a funeral service to begin at 1pm in the chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) in Taunton. Interment will be held privately.
