TAUNTON - Edward C. Leanues, husband of the late Norma C. (Videto) Leanues, died on Aug. 19th at Morton Hospital following a brief illness. He was 82.
Born in Taunton, he was the son of the late Manuel and Louise (Medeiros) Leanues. Educated in Taunton schools, he graduated from Taunton High School in 1943.
He was a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WW II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
A maintenance man for the City of Taunton School Department for many years, he retired in 1988.
He was an avid guitar player, jazz musician, and played in several area bands.
He leaves a son, Edward M. Leanues and his wife Laurie of Taunton; a daughter, Linda Lawrence and her husband John of Falmouth; 4 brothers, Donald, Raymond and Kenneth Leanues, all of Taunton, and Robert Leanues of Brockton; 2 sisters, Evelyn McQuade of Raynham and Dorothy Carreiro of Taunton; 4 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He she was also the father of the late Jeffrey Leanues and Cheryl Frost and the brother of the late Gerald Leanues.
Funeral Services will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton on Saturday, Aug. 23rd at 11 a.m. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery, Taunton. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling Hours will be Friday, from 5 to 8 p.m. www.silvafuneralhome.com.
