Edward David Zimmerman

Edward David Zimmerman, age 79, a loving husband, father and friend of Hudson New Hampshire and formerly of Taunton, passed away on August 15, 2021 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center. Edward was the beloved husband of Joyce (Crovello) Zimmerman. Mr. Zimmerman was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA, the son of the late Edward and Ethel (Vanbuskirk) Zimmerman. He served his country with the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. After a long career in the postal service he retired as a Post Master in Oak Bluffs, MA. Following retirement Ed turned his love of animals into a second career as an animal control officer for the town. He earned the title “Ranger Rick” when he safely led a family of ducks across a busy street to a pond. While pursuing a career with the postal service Ed also ran a successful small business; Sentinel Security. Edward with Joyce were “Champagne Homeless” traveling for many years in a motor home. Besides his beloved wife Joyce of over 58 years, he is survived by his loving children; Ann-Marie Morin and husband Dennis of Raynham, Denise Taylor and husband Matt of Raynham, Andrea Delmonte and husband Christopher of Bridgewater, David and wife Val of Hudson NH; and grandchildren Matthew and wife Josie, Patrick and wife Akanksha, Shawn, Benjamin, Alanas, Andrew, Elizabeth, Sarah, Brian, Megan, Daniel and wife Allison, Matthew, Allison, Jonathan, and Lindsey. He is also survived by half sisters and half brothers. Edward’s funeral will be held on Friday, August 20, 2021 at 10:45am with a funeral service beginning at 11:30am in the chapel of The Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton. Interment with military honors will follow in Massachusetts National Cemetery, Bourne MA. Visiting hours will be held in the Silva Funeral Home on Thursday, August 19th from 4 to 7pm. Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North side of the Funeral Home.
