TAUNTON - Elizabeth A. (Ferreira) Costa, wife of Laurentino E. "Larry" Costa, died at Taunton Nursing Home on Feb. 22, 2009, following a lengthy illness.
She was 84.
Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary (Nunes) Ferreira.
Educated in Taunton schools, Mrs. Costa was a 1942 graduate of Taunton High School.
She was a communicant of St. Anthony Church.
Employed for many years at the Eureka Manufacturing Co. and later the Whittenton Garment Co., Mrs. Costa retired in 1983.
She was a tinter for Boutin Photography.
A breast cancer survivor, she volunteered for the American Cancer Society for many years.
Mrs. Costa was a talented master seamstress and enjoyed sewing, dancing and classical music.
Her family, especially her grandchildren, brought her much happiness.
Besides her husband of 58 years, she leaves 2 daughters, Susanne E. Duquette and her husband Kenneth of Taunton; and Elizabeth Ann Welsh and her husband Allen of Westboro; a sister, Eva Merchant of Kissimmee, FL; 4 grandchildren, Kaye, Hailey and Michael Duquette of Taunton and John Welsh of Westboro; 5 nieces and 3 nephews.
She was also the sister of the late Edward Ferreira, Laura Perry and Ida Caporelli.
Her funeral will be held from the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, on Friday, Feb. 27th at 8 a.m., followed by a funeral mass at St. Anthony Church at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Calling Hours will be Thursday, Feb. 26th from 4 to 7 p.m.
