Elizabeth Spataro (De Costa) 95, of Taunton, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2020, at her home. She was the wife of the late Francis G. Spataro. Born in Taunton, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Angelina (Cabral) De Costa. Elizabeth lived in New York from 1955-1987 where she raised her family until she retired to Taunton. She worked at New England Telephone for several years. Mrs. Spataro was a member and past president of the Taunton Golden Agers and was a charter member of the Catholic War Veterans Women’s Auxiliary in New York. She also loved knitting and reading. She leaves four sons, Stephen Spataro, of Levinworth, KS, Robert Spataro, of New York City, NY, James Spataro, of Middle Village, NY, John Spataro, of Broad Channel, NY; five daughters, Louise Spataro, of Spotsylvania, VA, Patricia Tate, of Hayes, VA, Celeste Scott, of Southern Pines, NC, Carol Freddo, of Dallas, TX, and Denise Kurian, of Marquette, MI; eighteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Spataro was the sister of the late Antone DeCosta and Margaret Remillard. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, September 18, 2020, from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, in the Silva Funeral Home, 80 Broadway, Taunton. Additional parking with handicapped access is located on the Northside of the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 19, 2020, at 9:00 am, in Saint Anthony Church, School Street, Taunton. Relatives and friends may meet directly at church. Facial coverings and social distancing will be required. Interment will be in Saint Joseph Cemetery, Taunton.
