Elsie (Cabral) Evangelho, age 95 of North Dighton, passed away on June 20, 2018 at Morton Hospital.
Elsie was born in Taunton, a daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Paige) Cabral.
She was the wife of the late John Evangelho, Sr. and the beloved mother of the late John Evangelho, Jr. She had four sisters who pre-deceased her; Helen Rogers, Esther Silvia, Loretta Pacheco and Dolores Borsari.
Elsie is survived by her daughter, Donna (Evangelho) and husband Gregoire Jusseaume of North Dighton. She is also survived by her grandchildren Jennifer (Evangelho) Jacobs and husband Ronnie, John Evangelho, III and wife Lisa, Heather Jusseaume and Sean Jusseaume and wife Jennifer. She was the great-grandmother to Sophia and Lauren Jacobs, Brooke and Luke Evangelho and Jolie Jusseaume.
Mrs. Evangelho attended Taunton Public Schools. She worked at Robertson Curtain Factory as a seamstress. In 1948, Elsie married her husband John and moved to North Dighton to begin their family farming business Winding Trail Farm.
She was a former assistant Girl Scout leader in Dighton and served as president, vice president and secretary of the Woman’s Guild of the former St. Joseph Church. Elsie remained a member of the Woman’s Guild of St. Nicholas of Myra.
Elsie enjoyed word search puzzle books, and watching television. She also greatly enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Evangelho’s funeral will be held on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at 8:30 am from the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square) Taunton, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am in Saint Nicholas of Myra Church Spring St, North Dighton. Interment will follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held on Monday, June 25th from 5 to 8 pm in the Silva Funeral Home.
