Elsie (Dean) Pimenta, age 96 of Taunton, passed away at her residence on May 11, 2021 with her loving family by her side.
She was the beloved wife of the late Arthur G. Pimenta, Sr.
Elsie was born in Taunton, the daughter of the late Thomas and Elizabeth (Sharpe) Dean.
Before her retirement, Mrs. Pimenta was employed by the former NE Telephone as an operator for many years.
Elsie’s favorite pastime was spending time with her family, especially Sunday morning steak and egg breakfast at her house. A big tradition she started on New Year’s Eve was to go outside, turn around and come right back in to “bring in the new year”. It was always a race among her family members to see who could call her first at midnight. In the words of her granddaughters, she was the true definition of a grandmother; loving, supportive, and proud. She had a wonderful laugh and will be greatly missed.
Elsie volunteered at the Bargain Bazaar on Friday afternoons and was a member of both the Pioneer Club and the Red Hat Society.
Mrs. Pimenta is survived by her loving sons: Arthur Pimenta, Jr, his wife Norma and her son Gregory Pimenta, all of Taunton. She is the grandmother of Erica (Pimenta) Emond and her husband Michael Emond, Erin Gallant and her companion Ryan Murphy, Catherine (Pimenta) Rogers, her husband Justin Rogers, Hannah Pimenta and Grace Pimenta, the great-grandmother of Tyler, Matthew, Aiden, Jillian, Dylan, Peyton and Dean. Elsie was the baby of the family predeceased by her siblings John Dean, Willis Dean, Fredrick Dean, Kenneth Dean, Elizabeth Dean and Florence Dean.
Elsie’s funeral will be held on Monday, May 17, 2021 with a visiting hour at 9am, with a funeral service beginning at 10am in the Chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary’s Square, Taunton.
