TAUNTON- Eugenia (Rose) Rego, age 92, longtime resident of Taunton, passed away on the afternoon of Wednesday, May 15, 2024 at Life Care Center of Raynham. She was the devoted wife of the late John P. Rego, Sr., who passed away on June 2, 2015.
Born in Taunton, Eugenia was one of six kids born to the late Manuel and Mary (Farias) Rose. She was raised and grew up in Taunton.
A woman with a great work ethic, Eugenia worked for many years in the Cafeteria at Bristol-Plymouth Regional High School, where she truly loved interacting with the students during lunch periods.
Outside of work and in her spare time, Eugenia had a wide variety of hobbies and interests. She was an avid bingo player and she liked to take trips to Foxwoods Casino. Eugenia was a proud longtime member of the Red Hat Society. She and her husband were “Snowbirds” as they enjoyed their trips every winter down to Florida. Above all, Eugenia enjoyed the time spent and memories made with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Eugenia is survived by her proud and cherished children: Sharon Weatherford and her husband David, Jack Rego and his wife Joyce, Jan Rego and his wife Karen, Michele Adkins, and Michael Rego and his husband James; her 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren; her son-in-law William Bridges; and also countless nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to her husband and parents, Eugenia is predeceased by her daughter: Dorene Bridges; grandson: David Weatherford, Jr.; siblings: Richard and William Rose, Dorothy Sousa, Lillian Lawrence, and Mary Philanger; and her grandpups: Lilly and Tyson.
Eugenia's Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday , May 29, 2024 at 9:30am in the Chapel of the Silva Funeral Home 80 Broadway (at Saint Mary's Square) Taunton.
Eugenia’s Committal Service will also take place on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 at 11:30am at the MA National Cemetery, Connery Ave., Bourne. There will be no formal funeral procession from the funeral home to the cemetery. All are asked to arrive at the cemetery by 11:15am.
Memorial Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday , May 28, 2024 from 5pm to 7pm in the Silva Funeral Home.
Additional parking with handicap access is located on the North Side of the funeral home.
