Eva M. (Boivin) Thornley, 88, of Taunton, passed away on September 17, 2020 at home with her loving family by her side. Born in Attleboro she was the daughter of the late Eva V. and Euclid L. Boivin. She was raised and educated in Taunton and had been a lifelong city resident.
Always a kindhearted person, Eva was a hard worker and possessed a great sense of humor. She loved sewing, gardening, traveling and especially playing practical jokes.
Eva retired from Texas Instruments and spent many hours caring for her grandchildren and taking trips with her family.
She is survived by her daughters, Phyllis and her husband Rick Harraghy of Taunton, Paula and her husband David McGinn of Westport, Carol and her husband Don Paquette of Taunton and Elaine and her husband David Gregory of North Dighton. She was also the mother of the late Cindy Gwozdz. She is also survived by her son-in-law Joseph Gwozdz of Taunton.
Eva was the grandmother of 10. Aaron Jacobs, Sean Harraghy and his wife Yahaira, Ana Gwozdz, Mary Kate Gwozdz, Benjamin Dwyer, Evan Dwyer, Kimberly Paquette, Katie Paquette, Kasey Paquette and the late Kyle Paquette. Great- granddaughters Hunter and Charlee Osborne and great- grandson Cason Pillsbury.
She also leaves behind her brothers Francis Boivin and his wife Alice, Paul Boivin and his wife Diana, Roger Boivin and his wife Irene, and sisters Anna Boivin, Irene Boivin, Dora Meier and her husband Ray, and Helen LaPlante. She was the sister of the late Eugene Boivin and Yvonne Richardson.
Eva’s devoted caregivers Yahaira Colon, Debra Dunn, Chris Roberts and Charlene Gove are lauded for their kindness and invaluable support to the family in caring for Eva throughout her battle with Alzheimer’s.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 21, 2020 at 10 am in Saint Jude The Apostle Church Whittenton St., Taunton. (Relatives and friends may meet directly at church.) Facial coverings and social distancing will be required. Burial will follow in St. Francis Cemetery North Walker St., Taunton, MA.
